The area is like a park and extends like an island below the Danube bank along a natural lake directly on the cycling track Donauradweg R1 (Eurovelo 6) Passau – Vienna next to the cultural metropolis Linz.

The adjoining guest’s garden is a popular meeting point of both tourists and local people. It regularly turns into a regional cabaret, always conserving the contemplative atmosphere and the gorgeous perspective of the Danube.
Nature and culture, tourists and local people, cyclists, people on boats and campers in tent, caravans and mobile homes meet here.

Due to our idyllic location directly on the cycling track Donauradweg R1 (Eurovelo 6) Passau – Vienna next to the cultural metropolis Linz, you can make numerous unforgettable excursions around Camping Au. Discover everything: Get to know beautiful towns and cities and hike through an enchanting countryside along the imposing river Danube: * Towns and cities: The big and important city of Linz as well as the UNESCO World Heritage historic city centre of Vienna or Salzburg with their numerous curiosities are always worth while. Our insider tip for you is the romantic town of Styr with its medieval historic town centre and its enchanted alleyways. * Countryside: Hike through Mühlviertel, the area above Linz between the river Danube and the Böhmerwald, and enjoy arresting views on bizarrely shaped rocks, flowering grassland valleys and imposing forests. In autumn, you can perfectly go on a mushroom foray. A real paradise where we also like spending our holidays! * River: The Danube is an impressing lifeline also for us. Either on foot or by bike along the shore (and maybe back by ship…) or through the waves by boat. An excursion along or on “the longest stream of Europe” is a great venture. But that’s not all: * You can gather detailed information about the numerous destinations around Au an der Donau in our donAu Stand’l: Hiking tours, cycling tracks, castles and ruins, abbeys and monasteries, towns and cities like Salzburg, Linz,Vienna, museums, World Heritage Site Wachau, concentration camp Mauthausen, tours by train or ship, national parks, zoos etc. The best thing to do is to use our cosy campsite as a base camp and to explore from here “Austria’s most beautiful spots” which are located around us. Type 1: Motorway A1 – Exit Asten – Mauthausen – Au an der Donau Type 2: Motorway A1 – Exit St. Valentin – Mauthausen – Au an der Donau Arrived in Au, go directly on the Donaudamm. The orange building on the dam, that’s us. Welcome.
